I'm in a Play

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 1:53 PM
  • Mood: Excited
  • Listening to: "Tokyo Girl" - Ace of Base
  • Reading: Boy Meets Boy
  • Watching: Umineko no Naku Koro ni (ep 22 comes out tomorrow)
  • Playing: DDR Max
Our theater arts class is doing a play in December, and we're all both actors and crew members.

It's pretty much a generic fairy tale with princesses and enemies and a magical crown. I auditioned for a main role, but naturally since I have very minimal acting experience I didn't get the part. Instead, I'm a guard along with another girl.

The script is 27 pages long, and us guards are only on the scene for two pages.
LOL SMALL ROLE, PLZ.

But I've come to appreciate being a guard. For one thing, me and the other guard speak in rhymes. And we're both men. 8D SO IT'S KIND OF LIKE CROSSPLAYING!

I'm really enjoying being on the costume crew. It makes sense that I love it; I'm a cosplayer! After looking through the costume closet backstage, we decided on dresses for the princesses, matching glittery shirts for the narrators, and a gown large enough to fit the boy playing the queen plus space for his fake boobs (LOL). For some costumes, a few people brought in spare pieces of their own, such as a puffy Shakespearean-styled shirt and animal ears.
For the guards, we found two matching black cloaks, which I'm pretty sure are extras from marching band. We're also wearing orange t-shirts underneath to go along with our dialogue about how nothing rhymes with orange. Between the costume and makeup crews, we've negotiated on having us wear fake goatees and mustaches and styling our hair to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

All in all, it's really been fun. I'm really excited for this play.

In other news, today our school had its pre-Thanksgiving day of fun, called Cornucopia. The two gyms plus the wrestling room were filled with activities and club tables. I was happy to see three of my clubs participating in the action today: GSA, TWLOHA, and something our school has called Manifest. Manifest turned the wrestling room into a game room for the day, and I played lots of DDR! (Even though the mats were all crappy and unresponsive.)

I'm sad that it's over. This was my last Cornucopia because I'm a senior.

Anyway, Thanksgiving's tomorrow. For the few people that actually read my dA journal, have a happy Thanksgiving. :)

Back from Zenkaikon 09

I'm back from my hometown convention, Zenkaikon. This was my third year there, and I've go to say it just keeps getting better and better each time. It used to be held at the Scanticon hotel in Valley Forge, but this year they upgraded to the Radisson in the same complex.

Unfortunately, the con didn't rent out enough space for all the people that wanted to attend this year. They capped attendance at 1500 per day. I feel really bad for everyone who couldn't get into the con.

...but I didn't have to deal with any of that since I was a GUEST! I didn't have to stand in line to get my badge. muahahaha.

A guest, you say? Why yes. If you haven't heard already, I was in an interactive production run by Concept Galaxy ([link]) where Carmen Sandiego stole the convention's ticket sales. I was part of ACME, a team of heroes trying to stop her. I cosplayed as Rika Nonaka (both Saturday and Sunday to keep the game and script consistent), and I was wearing a pair of one-day wear contacts that weren't my prescription. >_<;; I really want to get some of my own soon...

Friday night, us C.G. folk met in Agent Mayhem's hotel room to run lines. I got to meet the rest of the people we were working with that I hadn't already met. We got to see the money with our faces on it that was used for the game ([link]). ^_^ I frickin' loved those Rika bucks!

So, as a guest, I expected we'd be using the guest room. Makes sense, right?
Well, I went in there to see if it'd be safe to leave a bag there, and like... it was this small meeting room with a table and some office chairs. o-o No one was in there, so I didn't dare leave anything in there. Instead, I put my bag in Agent Mayhem's hotel room. Each time I visited the guest room was a different strange surprise. Never were any of the guests actually in there. There was a cake on the table at one point, and during another visit someone was conducting an interview. I was honestly very confused. I ended up storing my extra stuff in Agent Mayhem's hotel room the whole weekend. XD When in public, I tried to refer to it as the "ACME Storage Room" because I often had to ask to borrow the key to get something from the room.

Some stuff happened while getting ready for the opening ceremonies that I'd rather not tell in detail... basically, we ended up being unprepared for the opening skit. It wasn't too bad aside from the fact that none of us knew where to stand and a couple of lines were skipped. You'd never be able to tell by watching it though.

Also during the opening ceremonies, they showed a staff-produced video. It was a comedic take on getting ready for the convention.
The con chair asked a staff member if there was a guest list yet.
The staff member replied, "uh... DustyRoxas?"
For those of you that don't know, Dusty is my best friend, and it was really epic and funny to have them mention her in their video! xD
Later in the video, Uncle Yo murmured his famous line from my youtube video, "Bees... everywhere... bees everywhere..."

I ended up being too busy with the production to attend Robert Axelrod's autograph session. (The only scheduled thing I went to other than what I was acting in was Uncle Yo's Comedy Hour). I was disappointed up until I walked by the voice acting panel late Saturday night and saw him from the hallway!
I came back right as the panel ended, and he autographed my Wizardmon card! ^__^

Time to mention people!

:iconcyberwizardpkmnmastr: and :iconprinceerik: were debuting Ciel and Sebastian from Koroshitzuji on Saturday. Simply amazing~!

On sunday, :iconlithe-fider: and I were Digimon Tamers together and had awesome epic times as Henry Wong and Rika Nonaka. :D

I was unaware that :icondigitalhopper: was there. Neither of us recognized each other the whole time. :C

:iconsertium: and :iconcyberwizardpkmnmastr:'s sister didn't pre-reg and couldn't make it through the at-the-door line in time. Similarly, my brother's friend didn't bring I.D. and couldn't register. ;o; <3 much love to all of you; I'm so sorry you couldn't attend the con!

I didn't see it in person, but Uncle Yo was wearing a Sailor Moon outfit during the masquerade! XD

In other news... I caught con plague. >_< I went to school on monday but didn't realize it was bad enough to stay home until it was too late. I made it all the way up until 8th period, when I was sure I had a fever. Luckily it was the last period of the day, so I just layed down in the nurse's office looking at my Zenkaikon pictures (I had my camera with me to show my friends pics). As of now, I'm still sick.

I'll probably think of something later that I forgot to mention in this journal entry. ._. knowing me it'll be one of the most exciting parts of the con. lol whatever, I'm too tired to think.

Good job if you read all of that, by the way. o-o

Zenkaikon Tomorrow (+Quiz!)

Fri Nov 6, 2009, 1:46 PM
  • Mood: Excited

  • Watching: Umineko no Naku Koro ni (must see ep. 17, 18, 19)
  • Playing: Animal Crossing, DDR Extreme 2
Well, Zenkaikon's tomorrow! Zenkaikon linked to my pre-Zenkaikon video on their Twitter! ^__^ (My video: [link] Zenkaikon's Twitter: [link])

Yeah so. We have a script rehearsal tonight for Concept Galaxy. Hopefully, I'll also be finding out EXACTLY what characters I'll be on what days. As of now, the script says I'm Rika Nonaka on saturday and doesn't mention sunday yet.

Tomorrow I will get there an hour before the convention starts so we can get ready for the opening ceremonies. They need me to stay until at least 8pm. I'm trying to figure out how much longer I'm staying past that. I probably won't be there for the rave, but I'm bringing rave clothes just in case.

And here's a quiz I stole from Chima. :P
(I'm wasting time when I should be getting ready for Zenkaikon! >_<;; )

Instead of a FC/OC (I really don't have any), I answered the questions for the protagonist of my story instead.
-----

Rules
1) Pick one of your FCs/OCs
2) Fill in the questions/statements as if you were your FC/OC
3) Tag 3 people at the end of the quiz (I don't tag, but if you want to then feel free)

1.) What's your name?
--Addy Luciani.

2.) Do you know why you were named that?
--Well, I was actually named Adelina; Addy's just my nickname. Uhhh I dunno, my parents liked it..? ...Actually, maybe not. I have two older twin sisters, so maybe my parents gave them their favorite girls' names and gave me whatever they could think of. Honestly, I have no idea.

3.) Are you single or taken?
--[At the start of the series] Single.

4) Have any abilities or powers?
--Like in video games?? I wish! Though I guess making games is an ability, right?

5.) Stop being a Mary-sue.
--I do NOT smoke marijuana!
...wait, that's "Mary Jane." Whoops.

6.) Uh...if you were to get in a fight with a strong wrestler, do you think you'd win?
--Definitely the wrestler... I'm so unfit, I can't even play sports.

7.) Riiiight... Have any family members?
--Mom, Dad, two older sisters, and a younger brother! I'm the middle child, if you consider my twin sisters to share the position of being "the oldest."

8.) Oh? How about pets?
--We've got a dog back home named Fifi. He's a boy. My mom didn't know that when she named him.

9.) Cool, I guess. Tell me something that you don't like.
--I really don't like gym class.

10.) Something that you do like?
--Video games! I'm a total gamer, and I'm even at a school to learn how to design them.

11) Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
--Aside from video games since I just mentioned them, I recently joined the school's stage crew. It's been fun. We're getting ready for a school play in a couple months.

12.)Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
--I'd rather not talk about my middle school days.

13.)Ever...killed anyone before?
--Just in video games! :P

14.)What kind of animal are you?
--I guess a dog, since I like dogs. I mean, I like cats too. Maybe I only said I was a dog because I have a dog, and I don't have a cat. I dunno really.

15.)Name your worst habits.
--Squinting to see the board instead of taking out my glasses. They just don't feel right on my face! Sorry!

16.)Do you look up to anyone at all?
--My older sisters, in a hopeless kind of way. They're really good at sports, and I admire them for that. But honestly, I'd never be that athletic, and I'm not trying to be.

17.)Gay, straight, or bi?
--Straight. I mean, I've never dated anyone, but my crushes have always been on boys.

18.)Do you go to school?
--Yes, that's what my whole series is based on! (Whoops, look who just broke the fourth wall o3o;;). Anyway, I go to school in Boston at Overbrook Academy of Game Design.

19.) Ever wanna marry and have kids one day?
--That's so far into the future and makes me nervous to think about. But probably.

20.)Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?
--Hm... well my friends like my drawings! Does that count?

21.)What are you most afraid of?
--I have no idea. I mean, you've got your rational fears and your irrational fears. If I said I was most afraid of one day waking up to find I'm trapped inside a gum-ball machine, there'd be no purpose in being scared because that'd never happen. ...right??? o__o

22.)What colour is your hair?
--Dark brown.

23.) Eyes?
--Green.

24.) What do you usually wear?
--Our school uniform is khaki pants and a red tie along with several shirt items to choose from. For warmer weather, I wear a black short-sleeve button-down shirt. For cold weather, I have a white long-sleeve button-down with an optional black v-neck sweater to wear on top. We can wear any close-toed shoe, so I just wear converses.
When I don't have to wear the uniform, I wear jeans mostly. Graphic t-shirts. Layered shirts. Sweaters. Shorts. Casual stuff. If I need anything fancier, I can borrow from my sisters.

25.)What's your religion?
--Mom and Dad raised me Roman Catholic, but I don't go to church now that I'm at boarding school.

26.)Do you wish this quiz is over?
--I'm taking a quiz?

27.) Well, it's still not over.
--...is this going on my final grade?

28.) Anyways, where do you live?
--I live with my family in Seattle, but I go to boarding school in Boston.

29.) What class are you? (Low class, middle class, high class)?
--Middle... I guess. My family's doing fine, but we don't own a mansion or anything.

30.) How many friends do you have?
--Since high school started, I've made so many new friends! There's Rachel, my roommate, as well as Becky and Louis, who we have a few classes with. Then there's Louis's friend, Brody, and Becky's roommate, Celia, who is a sophomore. I really didn't have any close friends in middle school. I was kind of a tag-along with some kids I knew since kindergarten.

31.) If you could change anything about you, what would you change?
--I really wish I had 20/20 vision again. I recently started wearing glasses to see the board, and it's annoying to carry them around all the time. Plus, they feel weird on my nose and behind my ears.

33.) What is your thoughts on pie?
--Mom says don't eat too many desserts because they're not good for you. But I admit pie is tasty.

34.) Alright. What's your favourite food?
--You know, I really like Eggplant Parmesan. Lasagna's really good too! My family's Italian, so we have these types of dishes on holidays.

35.) Favorite drink?
--Hmmm... root beer? No, wait, cream soda is good too. But then again, I really like milkshakes... what about root beer floats? ... oh but orange soda is really good too.. I just don't know.

36.) What is your favorite place?
--California. Seattle doesn't get warm enough in the summer, so I like going to the beach down south a bit. But we usually just go to northern beaches since southern Cali is pretty far.

37.) Least favorite?
--The unfinished half of our basement. It's so scaryyyy. I don't understand why Aidan likes hiding there.

38.) Are you still wanting the quiz to end?
--I really don't understand what you mean by "quiz." None of these answers are right/wrong, are they??

39.) Well, it's over.
--Okayyyyy bye.

Too much to do!

Oh my god, life is too crazy right now. ;__; Help! Save me! Please!

My to-do list looks something like this:

Memorize two skits for tomorrow, go to a bazillion club meetings, fix my concentration piece for friday, figure out this halloween party mess, deliver the last five copies of the lax DVD to my client, paint a pumpkin for dad, make my Shion necklace, upload photos from art field trip, make up french quiz that I missed because of the field trip, hunt for information about a project I'm doing for/with channel 6, the list goes on and on...

Plus I'm trying to get in shape for Zenkaikon! (And y'know, there's this thing called homework that has to be done EVERY night. Who knew that some seniors actually do their homework?)

There isn't even any time to do college applications.
Speaking of which, I have no idea how to handle all the required forms. Take which one where and get it signed by who?

I also still don't have my license because I haven't had time to practice more or take the test.

Oh but in other news, my daddy took me to VGXPO on saturday. :) I have a video up on my youtube: [link]
At the cosplay contest, they were throwing 5-Hour Energy drinks to the crowd, and I got pelted in the knee. XD the bruise is still there.

So that field trip that I mentioned: it was today. I wasn't going to go, but there really wasn't much of a choice. The sketches/photos we took there will be used for a project, so if we didn't go, we'd have to go there outside of school. It was kind of fun, a bit cold though. ^^ Basically we were outside for three hours exploring Chanticleer Gardens. The photos look really cool. I want to play around with them in photoshop... once I have less on my to-do list!

A Brief Anecdote About Ice Cream

Today, I was at the ice cream shop trying to decide what flavor to get because they don't start selling my favorite, pumpkin, for another week or so.

Mint chocolate chip, Reese's cup, cake batter... this place had a pretty good selection. In fact, I noticed, they even had ice pops in the shape of several cartoon characters' faces.

While Spongebob and Spiderman had relatively calm expressions on their faces, Dora the Explorer's face looked like this: :iconimhappyplz:

The "I'm happy plz" face on a Dora the Explorer popsicle pretty much made me double over laughing.

But in the end I got Reese's cup.
